Physical ModalitiesTherapeutic treatment using physical methods, such as heat, cold, massage, or exercise to relieve pain, the cornerstone of rehabilitative exercise.Dr. Sid uses a variety of modalities to help treat patients. There are a variety of treatment modalities that can help strengthen, relax, and heal muscles. Below are a few of the treatment modalities physical used in our practice for our rehabilitative exercise regimen.Heat--Dr. Sid wraps moist hot packs in several layers of towels and place them on the specific treatment area.Benefits of the heat pack include: relaxation of tight muscles and tissue, decreased pain, and increased blood circulation to the affected area.Patients with muscle strains, spasms, or arthritis often benefit from treatment with moist hot packs. Cold packs are a frozen gel substance used by Dr. Sid to treat areas of pain and inflammation.The cold packs are wrapped in wet towel and applied directly to the treatment area. Benefits of cold therapy include: decreased inflammation, pain, and swelling. Patients with acute injury often benefit from cold therapy. Exercise--Dr. Sid demonstrates, instructs and prescribes specific therapeutic exercises to support your treatment plan and recovery.
