A condition as common as back pain can lead to tens, and sometimes hundreds, of thousands of dollar spent in search of a cure. If you have been through a number of treatments, taken medication, or even gone through surgery, you can attest to the true cost of the condition. Typically speaking, the more severe the back pain is, the more detrimental the spinal condition is, which means more treatments and larger medical bills.  For patients who do not have health insurance and must cover the costs on their own, sometimes the condition is ignored or neglected due to limited financial resources.

Chiropractic care is an alternative form of treatment for back pain that is much less expensive than surgery and also involves less risk. Since it primarily focuses on preventive care, it can simultaneously address other body conditions in addition to the existing spinal condition. Headaches, cramps, joint pain, and infections are just some of the conditions that can be prevented and cured through chiropractic treatment.

In addition, recent research has shown that chiropractic care is more effective at treating spinal conditions than traditional, expensive back surgery.  No incisions are made in chiropractic treatment, which means it is non-invasive and carries far fewer risks than surgery. Part of the research also reports that a large percentage of patients who have been through chiropractic treatment no longer find themselves in a state that would require surgery.

Other studies have proven the cost-efficiency of chiropractic care over surgery.  Patients who opt for chiropractic care incur significantly less costs than those who pursue surgery.  This is due to the elimination of the overall costs of hospitalization, anesthesia, surgery, lost wages during the recovery period, and other expenses associated with surgery.

With this information in mind, there is clearly a huge advantage for any patient experiencing back pain to seek chiropractic care before undergoing surgery. Although there are certainly severe cases of spinal disorders that require immediate surgery, patients with mild to moderate conditions are better off with choosing chiropractic care.
